Card-based space roguelike · 18+ · MVP demo
The market is the weather. You're the pilot.
Every trading evening, the brightness of the Belt's six stars is recalculated from live Chainlink feeds on Robinhood Chain. Flares, Eclipses and Ion Storms change the rules of runs and card battles. You command a fleet, you don't trade: the game has no stocks and no loot boxes. Its $COSMO token launches on the Pons memepad and fuels Deep Chart expeditions, Flotilla Beacons and boosts; you never need it to play.
Tape Bulletin
Today's Belt weather
This page reads Robinhood Chain mainnet by itself when it can reach the public RPC; otherwise it shows a labeled snapshot of the last close. For each of the 23 Chainlink feeds it takes the previous trading day's closing price and computes the weather the same way the WeatherOracle contract will. The weather describes a day that has already passed. It predicts nothing.
Computing the weather from the feeds…
How the market becomes weather
A signal, not a payout
In Cosmoverse the market works like a climate. Weather is computed from the previous day (T+1), normalized and symmetric. A falling sector doesn't make the game worse. It just yields more Cryolite instead of Plasma. No mechanic rewards guessing a future price.
16:00 ET (13:00 on half-days)
The US market closes
Each star responds to its sector. The Helios Index responds to the whole market.
Chainlink
Stock Token feeds
One feed per token, 24/5 mode. We take the last round with updatedAt ≤ T, not the price at call time.
Anyone can call
WeatherOracle.tick()
State lives in Solidity. The math (β, σ, z) runs in a stateless Stylus library.
Residual vs. the market
z = r / σ20
r = sector − β × market. That way one broad crash doesn't paint all six stars the same color.
Rules of the day
Weather band
2–3 rules for the economy and combat. A storm hits the one system with the sharpest shift.
Five weather bands
| Band | Economy | Combat |
|---|---|---|
| Flare | Plasma +60%, jumps use 25% less fuel | Guns +25% damage, Overheat is shuffled into the deck |
| Tide | Plasma +20% | Guns +10% damage |
| Calm | Carriers' contracts ×1.1 | base rules |
| Dusk | Cryolite +20% | Shields cards give +20% block |
| Eclipse | Cryolite +60%, derelict ships are visible | enemies hide their strike power, Sensors cards reveal it |
Day shares are targets. Band thresholds will come from a backtest over 10+ years, including 2008, 2020 and 2022.
Hits one system: the one with the largest |z| or σ5/σ20 spike, if it clears the threshold. The target is one storm every 2–3 trading days. It opens the Storm run and the Eye of the Storm node, yields Ionium and adds Static to the deck.
A feed in the star's basket is paused (oraclePaused() during a corporate action) or more than 26 hours stale. Its weight is split among the other feeds, and an exotic matter node opens in the system. The demo on this page detects an Anomaly from feed staleness.
Feeds run 24/5 and hold the last price over the weekend. US market holidays are Orbital Night too. The weather freezes and shifts mine Dark Dust. From Season 1, these days open the Night Convoy co-op raid.
Open tech docs: how today's Bulletin is computed
The game itself shows no tickers or company names. Basket composition is published only here, in the tech docs. Below are demo baskets built from feeds already live on the network: 2–6 feeds per star, 5–8 in production. Returns here are logarithmic, as in the Stylus library. The reference Solidity contract uses simple returns.
| Star | Basket | Sector r | β | Residual | σ20 | z | σ5/σ20 | Result |

MVP demo
Captain's Bridge
A working slice of the game right in your browser, with no server. The weather comes from the network, or from a labeled snapshot when the network can't be reached. The four MVP contracts run as a local twin (devnet), and every write shows its gas and its cost at Robinhood Chain's gas price (live, or from the snapshot). Signatures are real: EIP-712 and SIWE. Progress is stored only in this browser.
Game
Three decisions every evening
Where to keep a fleet of 2–6 ships, which run to take and how much to risk. A run is a chain of risk-or-reward nodes, like FTL, plus short card battles with visible enemy intents, like Slay the Spire. Ships age and keep a verifiable history. Power can't be bought.
Game loop
Tape Bulletin → fleet decision → run → repair, crafting, logistics → next Bulletin
Weather from yesterday
The market sets T+1 conditions. There are no forecasts.
Chance never touches NFTs
Wear from a Standard run is fixed and known in advance. Random losses hit only off-chain resources.
We don't sell power
The studio doesn't sell ships. The command limit grows only with rank.
Only what matters goes on-chain
Ownership, hull history and weather. Everything else lives off-chain.
Sessions
| Format | Length | What the player does |
|---|---|---|
| Watch | 60–90 s | reads the Bulletin, collects auto-mining, answers Comet Mail |
| Daily Run | ~3 min | one shared seed for everyone, a normalized “Guild Standard” hull, a leaderboard of friends and your Flotilla |
| Full run | 8–15 min | 6–10 nodes on your own ship |
| Storm run | 10–15 min | only in a system with a storm: Open Chart, your own deck order, score and Relic rank |
| Deep Chart expedition | 10–15 min | 6 nodes past the charted lanes, an Exotic Drift, loot ×1.6; entry paid in $COSMO, 2 a day |
| Logistics | 2–5 min | Carriers' contracts, repair, crafting, Exchange auction |
Combat: “Tape Tactics”
Guns
Damage: Volley, Broadside, Railgun, Drill through shields.
Shields
Block for one round: Shields, Dome Shield.
Engines
Evade, Afterburner. Withdraw for 2 energy is always available.
Sensors
Scanner, Probe, Sensor Lock: reveal intent, draw cards, break a boarding.
The 14–16 card deck is built from the ship's loadout: 6 class cards, 1 keel trait card from the hull seed, 2 cards from each of two officers and one from each module. The class sets the number of hardpoints. If an enemy breaks through a system, its cards cost 1 more energy for the rest of the battle.
Energy grows from 3 to 5 per round, you hold 5 cards, the enemy's intent is visible before your turn, and no battle lasts longer than 6 rounds. After each win the player picks 1 of 3 temporary cards for the rest of the run.
| Class | Hardpoints | Deck core | Role |
|---|---|---|---|
| Scout | 3 | Sensors, Engines | Eclipses, scouting, Storm runs |
| Hauler | 4 | Shields | contracts, survivability, hold ×1.5 |
| Miner | 4 | Shields, utility | auto-mining ×1.3 |
| Frigate | 5 | Guns | combat, escort |
Standard run
Fair randomness
- The server commits H(server_seed), the client provides client_seed, and the reveal arrives in the replay.
- The start transaction seals the NFT hull and deducts a fixed amount of wear known in advance.
- If durability drops to 10 during a run, “Emergency Tow” kicks in: the run ends and the loot is halved.
- An abandoned run counts as the worst outcome, so rerolling seeds is pointless.
Storm run · “Open Chart”
Skill with open information
- Everything is published with the Bulletin: the storm map, enemy intents, damage per round, Static positions, draft options and the storm rule.
- There's no randomness: the player sets the deck order.
- One attempt per hull per storm. Soulbound hulls can play too.
- The result is a score. Relic rank (bronze, silver, gold) is a percentile among all attempts that day.
- A ship can be lost only in the voluntary “All-In” mode.
Captain Mira's evening
Oct 13, 2026, day 12 in the game, 1,240 CR. Fleet: “Needle” (bonded NFT, 91/100), “Spar” and “Orca” (soulbound).
- 21:40 UTC, Face ID sign-in
Silicon Crown has an Eclipse and an Ion Storm II. Crucible has a Flare.
- Watch
+210 Plasma from auto-mining, three comets sent to friends.
- Daily Run
3 of 3 nodes, 2nd place in the Flotilla. A “beat my run” card goes to the chat.
- Storm run on “Needle”
Deck order tuned to the storm rule. Transaction #1 applies the seal.
- Result
Durability 62, silver. The server submits the result (transaction #2), and a Relic with a pattern from the deck order hash is written to the Logbook.
- Logistics
Repair “Spar”, a contract for “Orca”, a bid in the Exchange auction.
About 20 minutes and 2 transactions, free for the player: the game's paymaster pays the gas.
NFT
A ship with a history, not a picture
Only what's worth proving lives on-chain: ownership, wear, storms survived and trophies. Crew and modules live off-chain and are removed when a hull is sold.
NFT hull
The silhouette and keel trait come from the seed. The class sets the number of hardpoints. Stats are a ±8% sidegrade from the class.
Storm Relic
In Season 0 it's a soulbound record in the Logbook. The pattern comes from the deck order hash, the rank from the score.
Captain's Logbook
Soulbound ERC-5192. Rank, Patent seal, runs and storms, with a star chart drawn from the captain's address. It can't be sold or transferred.
| NFT | Utility | How to get it | Rarity | Transfer |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hull ERC-721 + ERC-2981 | 7 deck cards, hardpoints, ±8% sidegrade; on-chain durability, runs, storms, best rank | crafted with a Patent: Blueprint + Ionium + CR | no more than 3,000 in S0; silhouette from seed | yes, except while sealed; bonded hulls after the season or at rank 15 and 40 runs |
| Captain's Logbook ERC-5192 | rank, Patent, lessons, Relics, Memorials | earned through progress | 1 per account | no |
| Storm Relic | aura, trophy, status | Storm run | percentile rank, pattern from run data | soulbound in S0, recorded in the Logbook |
| Blueprint | right to craft a design, charges | scouting chain; Guild Blueprint with a Patent | shared charge limit | off-chain in S0, ERC-721 from S1 after a legal opinion |
| Livery S1 | cosmetic | Genesis from the buyer's seed, Pass, Dark Dust | unique pattern | yes |
Inventory without ERC-6551
In the MVP a ship has no general-purpose wallet. Inventory is equippedTo[asset][assetId] → hullId with an allowlist of game assets, and it moves with the hull. Outside tokens, including Stock Tokens, can't end up in a listing.
Honest secondary market
Buyers see wear, storms survived and best rank. Metadata lists only the hull's base deck.
Collectibles
No fractions, no yield, no revenue share. Every NFT is one of a kind, which is a condition for the MiCA exemption.
Economy
Credits can't be withdrawn, ships age
Credits (CR) stay off-chain and never convert into a token. $COSMO is the in-game fuel: it opens Deep Chart expeditions, lights Flotilla Beacons and pays for boosts and cosmetics, and half of every spend is burned. Apart from $COSMO there's no in-game premium currency, and the Pass and the store are priced in dollars. All numbers below are hypotheses until we run an agent simulation with an “economist” bot and a storm solver. The goal is a credit sink-to-source ratio of 1.0–1.1 in every player segment.
| Asset | Sources | Mandatory sinks | Voluntary |
|---|---|---|---|
| CR off-chain, non-withdrawable | contracts, Exchange sales | repair, docking fee, crafting fee, 2% Exchange fee | cosmetics |
| Plasma | Flare, Tide, auto-mining | fuel for every jump | sale |
| Cryolite | Dusk, Eclipse | repair | sale |
| Ionium | storms, Anomalies | hull crafting, modules | sale |
| Dark Dust | Orbital Night | — | cosmetics |
| NFT hull | crafting | aging, Scrap | “All-In” |
| $COSMO token, 1B fixed | Pons launch only; gameplay never mints it | — | Deep Charts, Beacons, Overdrive, fold jumps, shore leave, nanite repair, cosmetics (50% burned) |
Aging
Max durability drops by 1 for every 20 points repaired and for every 5 runs or shifts. At 40 the ship can only be scrapped. Scrap returns 30%.
The Exchange is an auction
Once per trading day there's a batch auction with a single clearing price. No race to sell first after the Bulletin.
Auto-regulator
Adjusts all CR sources in steps of 2–10% per week. At most 5,000 CR carry over between seasons.
Hull supply
From S1, new hulls match the number burned and scrapped. An extra +5% only if there's a queue. The queue is ordered by tenure, rank and payment history.
Comet Mail
Three gifts a day. The recipient gets a new pack. Resources aren't transferred, so you can't funnel a farm into a main account.
Transparency
A monthly “Treasury Bulletin” modeled on EVE MER, plus weekly on-chain Merkle roots of CR balances.
Anti-bot and anti-Sybil
- The Patent unlocks crafting, transfers and chat: 5–7 days of play plus age verification (a $2 card payment credited toward the Pass, or a third-party age-verification provider).
- Vouching cuts this to 3 days. No more than 3 mentees per season. If a mentee is banned, the voucher loses crafting rights.
- A bonded hull from the free Guild Blueprint can't be transferred until the season ends or until rank 15 and 40 runs.
- Crew fatigue: runs 1–3 per day give 100% rewards, runs 4–6 give 50%, after that 15%.
- Cluster analysis, IP geo-blocking and a separate Autopilot League for bots and AI agents.
No pay-to-win
- The studio doesn't sell ships. Players craft them.
- The command limit grows from 2 to 6 ships, and only with rank.
- The Daily Run and the Regatta use normalized hulls.
- The game is fully playable on soulbound hulls.
- In S0 all on-chain rewards except hulls are soulbound.
- $COSMO speeds progress up and opens extra content, within fixed limits. It never buys a Daily Run, Regatta or storm result, and never an extra storm attempt.
Seasons and people
8 weeks, one shared goal
A Season lasts 8 weeks. Season 0 lasts 6. In the MVP the season seed is a studio commit plus the feed answers from the first tick. Hulls with their history, the Logbook, crew and modules carry over between seasons. The map, ratings, Pass track and credits above the cap are reset.
Week 0
New Tape
Season seed, a new map, fresh contract boards.
Weeks 1–7
Bulletins, runs, Flotillas
Daily Bulletins and storms, weekly Flotilla goals, 12 Pilots' Academy lessons. Each season adds 20 cards, 4 enemies and 10 events.
Week 8
Great Eclipse
A server-wide goal. The top Flotilla names the star of the next season.
Pilots' Academy
Lessons unlock from in-game situations, not lectures. Every card is marked “Not investment advice.” Lessons you've already unlocked on the Bridge are highlighted.
Social mechanics
- Flotillas of 5–30 people: weekly goals, vouching, mentors. A mentor is rewarded when a mentee reaches D30.
- Chart breakdowns: the storm is the shared puzzle of the day, but everyone's deck is different.
- Share cards for the Bulletin and the Daily Run, Wordle-style. A “beat my run” link opens without an install.
- Keeper: whoever calls tick() gets a cosmetic badge.
- Chat requires a Patent. Guests have no chat.
- From S1: Night Convoy, ship Proxy, order book, Regatta.
Onboarding without a wallet
- 0–15 minutes
A link or PWA, a guest hull, the first battle within 60 seconds. The player never sees the words “NFT”, “gas” or “wallet”.
- About 20 minutes
Sign-in with a passkey or email (Privy or Dynamic), plus checks for 18+, country and sanctions lists. An ERC-4337 smart account and a 24-hour session key are created in the background.
- Days 1–7
Flotilla, Patent, crafting a bonded hull. No purchase needed.
- Optional
An external wallet links with a SIWE signature. We never request EIP-7702 delegation of your main wallet.
Monetization
The main payment channel is off-chain entitlements through a web processor. In the game $COSMO pays for expeditions, Beacons, boosts and cosmetics; half of every spend is burned and half funds the treasury and the gas paymaster. Minting is optional and sponsored. The honest model: 2–3% paying users at an ARPPU of $6–8 give $0.12–0.24 per MAU per month, and break-even is at 250–580K MAU. That's why Season 0 is an experiment with a continuation gate: D30 ≥ 8%, paying users ≥ 3%, ARPPU ≥ $8.
Technology
Four contracts and a live network
In the MVP only four contracts live on-chain, all on the standard EVM. The weather source sits behind an adapter, so if the feed license is denied, the game moves to Arbitrum One or Base.
ERC-721 · 2981
HullNFT
Hull state, bonded flag, seal, built-in inventory with an allowlist, aging.
ERC-5192
Logbook
Rank, Patent, lessons, Relics with on-chain SVG, Memorials, session key binding.
Chainlink · Stylus
WeatherOracle
tick() for anyone, rounds via getRoundData ≤ T, residual return, a “live or synthetic” label, daily seed.
EIP-712 × 2
Settlement
A run result needs two signatures: the server's and the player's session key. The replay hash is part of the result. Ship loss has a 24 h guardian pause.

Randomness and time
- prevrandao is a constant on this network, and Chainlink VRF v2.5 doesn't support the network. Daily seed = studio hash chain + feed answers.
- Standard runs: server_seed / client_seed. Storms have no randomness.
- block.number returns the L1 block number, so we take time from block.timestamp.
- Transactions are ordered FCFS with no priority auctions, so the game has no races.
- A paymaster pays gas for players, with a method allowlist and a daily ETH cap. If gas is above the threshold or the sequencer is down, results are queued.

Principles and risks
What Cosmoverse will never have
- Loot boxes or paid randomness
- Bets or price predictions
- Cash prizes
- Stock Tokens in rewards, bets or cargo holds
- Fractions, staking or revenue share for NFT holders
- Play-to-earn token emissions or staking yield
Regulation
- Gambling and derivatives: randomness never touches NFTs, storms are skill with open information, Relics are soulbound.
- The market data license is a go/no-go gate before launch. The fallback is synthetic weather with a public label.
- 18+: chat and trading only after age verification.
- Launch countries and the legal entity are confirmed before launch.
Economy and product
- Sybil farms: bonded hulls, soulbound rewards, paid Patent, vouching limit.
- Storm solvers: percentile ranking, one attempt, storm rules, Autopilot League.
- Weather correlation: residual returns and a single storm by relative rank.
- Cold start: a waitlist and the Bulletin card in trader communities before contract work starts.
Technical
- Oracle: pauses turn into Anomalies. On failure, the game falls back to the previous weather.
- Sequencer and 7-day bridge withdrawals: an off-chain queue.
- Server key: dual signatures, guardian pause, a daily cap on ship losses.
- Stylus only for math, and only after a benchmark.
To confirm before launch
- The feed license and contract access to the feeds; whether feeds exist on testnet.
- Whether VRF, Automation, Pyth Entropy, Gelato and drand evmnet are available.
- Whether there's a sequencer uptime feed and RIP-7212 support.
- Whether the 96 KB limit applies to Stylus.
- What gas costs in USD now that the Robinhood Wallet gas subsidy has ended.
- Whether Robinhood Wallet shows NFTs, whether its dapp browser allows games, and whether it's available in the US.
- What was announced at HOOD Summit (Sep 29–30, 2026) and whether it changes the plan.
- The legal classification of storms, “All-In” and the marketplace.
- Trademark status of the Cosmoverse name (a Cosmos ecosystem conference uses it too).
- Whether payment processors will work with web3 games.
- Actual weather band shares from the backtest.
FAQ
Do I need to understand stocks to play?
No. The player sees only the weather: “Crown is in Eclipse today: more Cryolite, enemies hide their strike power.” The sector and z will appear in the Bulletin as a line without tickers, and only if the data license is confirmed.
Can I make money playing?
The game doesn't promise any earnings. Credits can't be withdrawn, there are no cash prizes and NFTs pay no yield. Ships and trophies can be sold as collectibles, but floor price is not how the game measures success.
What if the market falls?
The weather is symmetric and measured relative to the market. A drop brings Dusk and Eclipses, which means more Cryolite and more derelict ships. The game doesn't get worse.
Is there a token?
Yes: $COSMO on Robinhood Chain. Its first supply launches on the Pons memepad with no presale and no team allocation. It is the game's fuel: Deep Chart expeditions with richer loot, Flotilla Beacons that boost a whole system for a week, shift Overdrive, fold jumps without Plasma, crew shore leave and nanite repairs, plus cosmetics. Half of every spend is burned. You never need it to play, ranked results can't be bought with it, gameplay never mints it, and it pays no yield. The contract address will appear on the token page at launch.
Why “Cosmoverse”?
It's the name of the universe the game is set in. The Tape Belt lies on its edge, where six stars still pulse to the rhythm of Earth's Old Exchange.
Is the demo on this page a real blockchain?
The weather, block number, gas price and ETH rate are read from Robinhood Chain mainnet when the page can reach the public RPC; otherwise a labeled snapshot of the last close is shown. The game's contracts aren't deployed yet, so a local twin in the browser executes their calls. The EIP-712 and SIWE signatures are real, and the cost of every write is calculated from that gas price.
Is the game affiliated with Robinhood?
No. Cosmoverse is an independent project built on the public Robinhood Chain network. Robinhood trademarks aren't used in the name, NFTs or metadata.
